Dr Lim Kheng Ann's Profile

Dr Lim
Kheng Ann is a consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and
has been practicing oral & maxillofacial surgery for 20 years. He
is a graduate from the Faculty of Dentistry, National University
of Singapore. He is trained in OMS at the then Government Dental
Clinic and Singapore General Hospital and obtained his Fellowship
in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh
after completing his basic OMS training. He continued his advanced
surgical training in OMS at the department of Oral & Maxillofacial
Surgery, National Dental Centre. His training includes OMS
surgical exposure at Singapore General Hospital, Changi Hospital,
Tan Tock Seng Hospital as well as Alexandra Hospital. He holds a
fellowship in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from the Academy of
Medicine, Singapore. He obtained a government scholarship under
the Health Manpower Development Program to study “advanced
surgical implantology” in Sweden. He spent nine months in three
hospitals including the Central Hospital in Halmstad; the
prestigious Salgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg; and the
Central Hospital in Vasteras. In his stint in Sweden, he studied
the finer points in surgical techniques for dental implantology as
well as cranio-facial implantology.
He held the appointment of clinical tutor in the Master of Dental
Surgery (Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery) program from 1995 0 2003.
From 2002 to 2003, he served as a part-time lecturer, Division of
Graduate Dental Studies, Master of Dental Surgery (Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery program)/ “MDS (Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgery)” at the National University of Singapore. He was also
visiting lecturer, Master of Science (Biomedical Engineering) /
“MSC (BME)” program, Nanyang Technological University.
Professionally, he has served on the Exco of the Association of
Oral & Maxillofacial surgeons (Singapore) for many years and
served as it’s president from 2004 to 2006 . He was also member of
the Exco of the Chapter of Dental Surgeons, Academy of Medicine,
Singapore. He has also served on the dental specialty board for
Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
In 2000, he performed the world’s first Modified
Maxillo-Mandibular Advancement Surgery (Mod MMA) for the treatment
of obstructive sleep apnea in SGH. In 2006, he performed the South
East Asia’s first Nobelguide (Teeth-In-An-Hour) surgical
procedure. The Nobelguide is an advanced planning and surgical
technique for immediate function with dental implants. He is
currently a trainer in this technique in South East Asia.
Since 2004, he has been teaching surgical dental implantology with
NobelBiocare and was appointed their regional instructor for the
Nobelguide technique for Asia. In September 2006 He was also
involved in the NobelBiocare World Tour held in Hong Kong where he
performed the Nobelguide technique to a live audience beamed to
the Hong Kong Convention Centre from the Prince Phillip dental
hospital. In 2008, he was again invited to be involved in the
teaching faculty of the NobelBiocare World Tour - Singapore 2008.
He is actively involved in teaching fellow dentists and conducts
courses and lectures on surgical dental implantology in Southeast
Asia.
